Wedding Bells

are ringing for a sweet couple at my church and I wanted to personalize something for them. I have found many fabulous ideas but decided that I wanted to go with a combination of glass etching and vinyl on a picture frame. Over the hill I went to where they have frames for sale and found a really nice frame that would work perfectly for what I wanted to do. I got it home only to find out that instead of glass it was a sheet of plastic. I was not deterred by this, thinking this powerful stuff that could etch glass would surely etch plastic. I cut the stencils with the Cameo and applied then to the sheet of plastic and waited the appropriate amount of time and then rinsed the etching cream off. It didn't work. Who knew? Certainly not me. But on the positive side, neither did it leave the plastic one iota the worse for wear. So on to Plan B which really wasn't Plan B at all, but rather the result of "Now what". Over the hill is 50 miles away and I did not have time to make another trip, so I decided to go ahead and use the mat that came with the frame (Plan A called for it's disposal and thankfully I hadn't chucked it). The mat has four openings for 4 x 6 photos and I started at the top with the bride and groom's family name, thinking an engagement snapshot or wedding photo would look good at the top. For the second opening I used the groom's name for a single photo of just him. Same for the bride with the third opening. For the fourth and final slot I put the date of the wedding thinking a shot of them leaving on their honeymoon or another wedding photo would be nice here. Along the bottom of the mat I put "and they lived happily ever after". All lettering was cut from vinyl using my Silhouette Cameo. I really enjoyed making this for them. I hope they like it.

Hello!  Welcome to another Silhouette Sunday.  Today I want to show you another baby onesie I gussied up  with HTV (heat transfer vinyl).  I photographed it along with the one I showed you last week (or was it the week before?  Heck I don't know, the days are a blur!!).

This cute Silhouette file of an old, old saying  is just perfect for a little boy but it was a tad hard to weed --- and not as hard as some.  When you get to weeding (removing the bits and pieces of vinyl that are not part of your design for any of you not familiar with the term as it relates to HTV) it can be very difficult to see the lines and know which is vinyl to be removed and which is vinyl that stays.  I have been sorting and organizing  craft supplies and a light bulb went on in this old brain when I was in the middle of weeding this file.  I ran across a small, portable light table in my cleaning frenzy and the thought hit me --- that little light table would help with weeding!!  It works beautifully!!!  You could jig something up to work without buying a light table if you don't have one ----that's what I would do if I didn't already have this one.  All you need is a light source under your vinyl that illuminates the cut lines--- and just weed away!  I can't wait to try this on something REALLY hard to weed.  Should make the process much, much easier.

WHAT?

I don't know how I managed to get two of the same post up on the new blog, but they have different posting dates, so I must have done it in my sleep!  Ha, ha! 
It's possible we may have a new member in the family before the weekend is over -- baby Patton may make her appearance OR she may wait until next week.  But one thing is for certain, without human intervention those little ones will make their appearance when they are darn good and ready.  Momma is ready that's for sure.  And if Patton decides Sunday is the day, it will be on my son's birthday so you can imagine we are all rooting for that!
I haven't been doing many cards lately, actually haven't been doing much crafting at all, but I have had this vinyl project in mind ever since I found out my DIL is pregnant and last weekend while I had her other two here for the day Deserae and I spent some time working on these.  I was kind of wanting to do a "my heart belongs to daddy", but she really wanted the Baby Girl thing, in red, and I suggested adding the little pink heart with the new baby's name.  So here you have it.  Clothes is the last thing this new addition needs, but I couldn't resist.  Thank you for stopping by!  Hugs, Shawna
